Looking for treasures

Since I wasn’t able to get that corn planter at the auction yesterday and I was all cleaned up and everything, I decided to call my sister on the way home and see if she was still interested in a garage sale that she saw advertised. Now this was not just an everyday garage sale – it was being held at the County Court House and they were ready to get rid of old stuff sitting around. This could be a very cool afternoon yet! I knew that I really didn’t need anything, but figured it couldn’t hurt to look right? Well, I picked her up and she made some phone calls and into the Court House we went. First we had to look at some old desks and some filing cabinets in the basement. I think it was kind of like doing time before you get to the cool stuff. We were polite and said that there really wasn’t anything there that we were interested in, but did they have more in the attic? (We knew that this is where they were keeping the good stuff) The guy that was showing us what around was really nice, and said that we’ll head up there now. OK, when you got into the attic, the first thing you see is brass lights. I LOVE old brass lights. I immediately starting to dig and I guess at this point it looked like I was going to go home with something. I ended up getting some lights and they are sooooo COOL! I don’t have a home for them right now, but I just love that they came from the Court House and also that they are mine now! There are a couple of spots that I would like to put them, but all of our lights in our house are around 4 years old and I’m thinking that they just don’t go bad. Something that I’ll have to work on.

Treasure found

The person that was helping us asked if we wanted to go onto the roof. Heck ya! So up the stairs we went from the attic and onto the roof we went. He told us not to fall off and I guess that was pretty good advice considering how high we were up in the air. I took a couple of pictures when we were up there of some side streets. I also took a picture of the top side of the stained glass dome. We sure had fun and I just casually mentioned to Daryl last night that I bought some old lights. Won’t he be surprised!
