Still painting…

Today was windy and I mean windy! Even though it was Sunday, and we have tried really hard not to paint on Sundays – I wanted to make an exception. We don’t have that much left on the outside of the farrowing house to do and if we could just get the white done, I thought that I could mess with the red trim tomorrow. Well Daryl really wasn’t in the mood for painting but after a little coaxing, he helped me. What I needed help with was I knew that the wind would tip the ladder over with or without me on it, so I wanted to paint with the bucket on the tractor. I figured that I could use that and get at least the white parts done on both sides. So he got the tractor and in the bucket I climbed. The east side of the shed wasn’t a problem at all, and then we moved to the west side. This was a whole different story. When I was painting and standing in the bucket, I held on to the building because the wind was gusting from 35 to 40 mph! But I really wanted to get this painted and I didn’t care! At one point I felt like the guy in the Forest Gump movie. The guy in the movie was the one who lost his legs and was in the wicked storm with all the wind out in the ocean. In the movie he was yelling to God… “Is this all you got?” It was so windy in the movie he had to yell as loud as he could and he was holding on for his life. Well, I felt today like saying, Bring it on! I wasn’t planning on quitting and as long as it didn’t blow me out of the bucket – I was painting! So with all this going on, I did get the white painted on both sides and now I just have some red trim and touch up left to paint. Daryl will have to pick up some metal trim for the corners. We were going to reuse what we had on the shed before, but now they are looking not the best. So hopefully by the end of the week – this outside will be painted and trimmed. Our door won’t be in probably for another week yet and that will be the next step to this project. It’s supposed to rain and even snow by Wednesday, so the clock is ticking.
