I’ve got a little bit of time in between the candy making and so I grabbed my tubs of oil and I started back on making soap again. I know that Kim and a couple of other readers were hoping to get a bar or two of my soap and so I sure need to replenish my inventory. Shoot I haven’t even used my new soap mold yet that William made me! Tonight I made a batch of Screaming Peacock soap and downsized it for the amount of materials that I had on hand. (I’m waiting for some more soap supplies to come in and I sure hope that it’s soon!) I even tried something different tonight. I used Rice Bran Oil in the recipe for the first time. Quite some time ago I thought I needed a lot of this oil and haven’t used any of it yet… well until today. The rice bran oil is supposed to be rich in Vitamin E and anti-oxidants. Rice bran oil is especially good for treating dry and mature skin. 🙂 Come to think of it, maybe that’s why I bought so much of it.
So there was a couple of things that I was pleased about this soap batch tonight. First I was pleased that I could calculate the percentages of oils/water/lye mixture for the batch down from the original amounts to what I wanted to make. Yea for me! And the second thing is that the rice bran oil actually turned out quite nice! Double Yea!! I’m working on being patient so I only took the soap out of the mold and haven’t cut it yet. I want to let it sit for a couple of days and then I’ll cut it and post a picture. Until then, I’m anxious to get a couple more batches done this week if my supplies come in.
