Daryl and William took off early this morning to head to Chicago to pick up Kyle who was flying in from Korea and also to pick up his friend who was flying in from New York. And while they were gone all I wanted to do was to keep my head on straight and plunge forward. I had a lot to do today and needed to get everything done on my list. No backing out on today’s stuff – it’s crunch time baby!!
First things first, I made my list. Then put some laundry in the washer and started to work on the dishes. Now I really wish I would have counted how many times the dish washer was used today. I was putting dirty dishes into it and the inside was still warm most of the day! Thank goodness for dishwashers right? Well I worked most of the day in the kitchen and one of the things that I did was trying to figure out just how in the world to make these two huge turkey breasts that I had. My roaster book (which should be the law) said that it should only take about 2 1/2 hours each. OK, I’ll put one in and then when that one is done – in will go the second one. Well let’s just say that the old roaster book lied! It ended up taking around 5 hours to get to the correct temperature. At first I was really worried that I might be getting it too dry – but then I wasn’t so worried about that and I just wanted them cooked. I also made a couple of batches of candy for some platters that I’ll need and made a couple pumpkin rolls for William. The next thing to make was some breakfast bake to put in the refrigerator for the morning. Now to make some beef jerky. I knew that I would need quite a bit, so I had made a 6 x batch. Now any odor of pine from our Christmas tree is so gone and we’ve got all our cats and the neighbor cats just hanging around our front porch tonight. The smell of beef jerky brings them in for miles. I made a mad dash to bring back recycling and then off to the grocery store for those last minute items. The kid who was helping me with loading my groceries into my car must not have realized that I only gave myself 45 minutes to get to town and back. Yea, he was just chatting away and so I ended up helping him load my groceries in the car to move him along. I’m guessing that he wasn’t so impressed with my ‘helping’. Back home to finish up a couple of things and then to get the floor steamed. I haven’t used our floor steamer for awhile and let’s just say that maybe I should use it more often. Chores got done and a couple of more gifts wrapped. Now it’s almost midnight and I’m off to finish the last of the gifts for tomorrow’s Christmas at Ma’s. Daryl and the kids should be home around 1:30 in the morning so I need to get busy so I’m done by the time they get home!
The photo of the day is one that William sent from the airport. His caption was “Look who I found” Love it!
So it’s safe to say with all the Christmas I haven’t watched tv so I got up early to catch up on the world and when I saw a plane went down I started to feak!!! Welcome home Kyle and stay there
I haven’t seen any TV these past couple of days and just checked the news Monday afternoon and read about the missing plane. Then saw that Beijing and South Korea were helping to find it …. and then I have to admit my belly kind of hurt a little bit! Kyle’s flights were from South Korea to Beijing, then Beijing to Chicago. But 18 hours and 5 mins later – Daryl and William saw him at the airport! He’ll be home for a week.
