Last weekend we were at our neighbors and we started to talk about our peacocks. We were laughing about the time that we had the peacocks only for a couple of years and then one late afternoon the peacocks went for a walk. And where who did they go? Well they went across the field to our neighbor of course. But the neighbor had no idea that they were standing under her window while she was watching TV and then they started to scream. I thought it was kind of funny, but to be honest – she didn’t really think so. She didn’t know what was going on and all she could hear was something screaming behind her outside. I guess it scared the holy daylights out of her! Now we’re used to their screaming, but we found out fast that maybe not everyone else is. When they scream they sound like they are saying ‘Help me‘. Anyway, it was something that this neighbor didn’t want by her window anymore, so Daryl walked up through the fields and was trying to herd them back home. If you ever wanted to see a sight – let’s just say that would be one to see. Someone trying to corral a couple of peacocks in a huge open farm field isn’t the easiest thing to do. But eventually they did come back and all was good again. Now fast forward to the next generation on this neighbors farm. Our new neighbors wife was telling us last Saturday night that when they first moved to the farm she could hear this absolutely terrible noise during the night. She said her husband looked at her and said, don’t worry it’s just the neighbors peacocks and went back to sleep. Too funny! But this time they weren’t at their house, they were at our farm upset about something and she could just hear them off in the distance. I guess not only are they pretty, but also pretty loud!
And lately they’ve been in the TV watching mode again. They kind of go in streaks to watch in the windows and below are some of the pictures that I caught them in the act.
We’ve also been seeing some Robins on our porch. The only difference is that the ones that we’ve been seeing are dead ones. I have no idea if Little Kitty is killing them or if someone else is. But today there was 2.. This makes a total of 3 in a week! And the weirdest thing is that no one is killing them to eat them, they’re just killing them and then leaving them on the porch in front of our door for us to see. I sure hope one of these birds wasn’t the one who was sitting on the eggs in the apple tree because that wouldn’t be too cool.
too funny about the peacocks! they can be noisy.
my guess is your cat is bringing you ‘presents’. we had a cat who brought us birds and mice. ugh.
oh, and our bird story of the week was about our dog, ivy. me and the hubby were out working in the yard and ivy walks by us. i happened to glance down at her and she has her mouth closed (which is suspicious because usually that tongue of hers is hanging out) and all i see are one little bird foot and a feather sticking out of the corner of her mouth! hubby made her drop it and then he got rid of it. the score is: ivy 2, birds and rabbits 0. she had a bunny a couple weeks ago.
