Doing something about the weather!

By now everyone is getting pretty sick of the weather and I am one of those people. It’s hard to believe just a month ago we were laying on the beach in 90 degree weather and today we’re all getting ready for a blizzard. We were under a blizzard warning starting yesterday already and this time I think they mean business! Listen to our forecast – start out with rain, changing to sleet, possible hail or tornadoes, fog, then switching to possible thunder snow. Now if you never have heard of thunder snow before, it’s when it literally thunders and snows very very heavy. If we were going to get that, they predicted 1 to 2 inches an hour of heavy snow for a total of 13 inches. Then when you couldn’t think it could get worse? They said that starting in the evening we were going to get 40 to 50 mph winds and complete white outs. Now that’s a fun night right?

When I miss work I have to use vacation and by this time I’m pretty much sick of giving up my vacation time,  so I’m going to do something about it. I packed my bags and plan to stay in town tonight. I’m ready for the blizzard – bring it on!

During the day the weather pattern was really unstable and they didn’t know just what type of weather we were going to get. But all of a sudden you could hear some thunder – and I knew that it was a good decision to stay in town for the night. We did end up with the rain, sleet, snow, and wind,  but thank goodness we didn’t get the hail and bad storms that others got!

So the only place in town to stay was a Bed and Breakfast and it so happened that it’s at also located at the winery 🙂

It’s the coolest ever! You know that you’re going to feel right at home when you are just pulling in front of the farm house and the owner is holding the door open for you to come in. Then as you’re walking into the house you see three big old Tom Cats sleeping on the blanket in the corner of the unheated glass porch. Not only did the owner welcome you, but soon you have this big Lab rubbing against you just trying to catch your attention. He was hoping that he made a new friend for the night. As I was being shown to my room, we walked through the dining room and sitting room that you found out later was built in the turn of the century. With the crappy weather outside you can about imagine that I didn’t get a good picture of the outside of the house. So I have one that was posted on their website to show you just how pretty it really is.

As we got to the top of the open stairway my room was just right in front of me. It was beautiful!

Not only a welcome sight but also a beautiful bedroom!

After a quick change into some more comfortable clothes, I opened the bottle of  wine that they make at the farm and it was time to catch up on some phone calls and TV.

Not a bad idea on a storm night

As I was laying on the bed I could hear some little kids talking and giggling in the hallway looking at the games stacked up in the corner. They were trying to figure out just what game they wanted to play for the night. As I listened to the wind outside, I knew that I might be in trouble when I crawled into the huge bed and just closed my eyes just for a little bit. But man oh man it was nice. Now I’m wondering just when are we going to get the next snow storm – and did I keep this Bed and Breakfast phone number handy?
