Farm noise

With working off the farm during the day, Daryl  has been unloading  the corn that he’s been combining at night. He’s been putting corn in the bin by our house, and with the shop not having the part in to fix  the combine, he had time to get the loads unloaded. DSCN7343Now I’m not sure why they couldn’t fix his combine, but this time of the year, you can find yourself just smiling and nodding a lot and maybe not paying as much attention to the conversation as you should be. Yea, pretty sure that was me in the combine bearing conversation. So Daryl has been putting corn in the bin by our house and because it was the first corn of the season, he was worried it might be still a little wet and didn’t want it to spoil. He had the fan on in the bin just to circulate the air, and tonight he turned on the gas to heat it up inside for a little bit. Now I know that I shouldn’t really like this noise because  when the fan or heat is on, you can see your electric or gas bill just going up and up. But I think there’s something relaxing about the noise. I really like laying in bed hearing the nose of the bin, and for me it’s a comforting sound. Yea, it’s weird I know. But it’s funny, when Daryl can sleep through just about anything, he can hear if the fan starts to sound funny outside in the yard with all the windows shut. He’ll lay there for a little bit and then get up and go check it out no matter what time of the night it is. But I think hearing the fan at night is kind of like when you have the laundry going in your house, there’s something just about it that is relaxing. But after the bin fan has been going for awhile now, he shut it off for tonight and everything seems so quite. It definitely seems like something is missing, and I’ll be anxious for it to start up soon again.

i know what you mean about hearing certain noises. i like to have the laundry going in the next room when i’m sewing. i’ll even save it for a time when i’ll be down there if i can! so, no, it’s not that weird…
