Daryl has been working on getting this one part of his combine taken off so it can be repaired. He’s been working on for a couple of days now, and tonight when I checked in on him, he was close to getting it taken off. So I was just standing by the combine hanging out, and then I saw this really little mouse jump out of some part of the combine and run to hide under it. Now in the fall when we put the combine away we try to keep the mice out of the cab because they can do a lot of damage for such small things. We heard that if you put fabric softener sheets in an enclosed area that the mice don’t like the smell and will stay away. So we’ve tried this in the past and what happened is that the mouse used it as his own little private bathroom area. Yea, not cool. But the mistake that we did was to put only 2 of these sheets down and we heard later that you’re supposed to put about 20 in there. I guess we’ll try it again this fall. So when I saw this little mouse running around under the combine, I laughed and told Daryl to be careful because I was afraid that it was going to run up his pant leg. Daryl was laying on the ground underneath the equipment working on the part and it made him just a little bit more vulnerable than me. So we laughed, but then the mouse turned and ran straight for Daryl. Now I was thinking it was going to go into his sweatshirt and he jumped up and got out of there pretty darn fast! He made some comment just where the dog or cats were if a mouse is running around in the yard. Well as if she was on cue, Reno came around seeing what all the commotion is going on. She could smell something under the tire and was more than determined to get that mouse out. Back and forth on both sides of the tire she went. Now at this time Little Kitty came around and started to help. She was trying to get it from one side when Reno went to the other side. It was pretty funny to watch them work together to try to get this little mouse. At the end of the day I asked Daryl if it got away or not? He said he didn’t know, but he was really happy because he finally got the part off the combine to get fixed! I’m thinking he wasn’t too worried about the mouse and was thinking now when he could take the part in to get repaired.
