I had a bunch of different things to do today, and you can guess one of those things was to keep working on those video tapes that I’ve been transferring over to DVD’s. I decided to change the goal that I set for myself when I want to get these finished. I first set the goal to get them all done on last Monday – yea, that didn’t happen. So after working on them a couple of days, my new goal is set for next Monday instead. When I was working on them today, I found a really unusual one. The tape started out with some small babies and that wasn’t such a surprise. But soon I started to see an old cartoon that was called the Teenage Ninja Turtles. What? The more that I thought about it, the more that I realized that the reason that I probably taped it was because this show was really important in our kids lives when they were growing up. This was back when you only had the chance to watch cartoons on Saturday morning and not just anytime you wanted like now on cable. Cartoons were not only something that the kids watched, but it’s also how we would keep track of the days of the week. You knew just how many days were left in the week by the amount of sleeps left to ‘cartoon day’. I wonder how kids keep track of the days now? Because everyday could be cartoon day with cable TV. So when I saw that this was on the tape, I now had to make the decision if I was going to take the time to transfer it to a DVD or just stop the tape. But the more that I thought of it, the more that I realized that it was just as much of our history of our family as some of the other tapes that I worked on. So the tape stayed and now it’s on the completed pile. And to be honest, I’m pretty sure that we’ll watch again soon… just for old times sake.
One of the other errands that I did today was to take our car in to have a headlight replaced. We noticed that it was out last night going to a basketball game, and with the amount of games coming up – we knew we’d be needing it fixed as soon as we could. Now I understand that I am 51 years old, but come on. When both lights were working I thought is it really this hard to see now ? So I asked the repairman to not only to replace the one light, but to also check the lights and see if they need to be adjusted. OK, he ended up moving them 6 inches. He said they were focused just in front of the car and pointing down. Thank Goodness it wasn’t all me. We just got home from a basketball game tonight, and with our lights adjusted I haven’t seen this good in a long time!
I got a chuckle out of your blog tonight with the Teenage Mutant Turtles. That was such a huge part of our Saturdays with our kids growing up. We had real turtles named Leonardo and Donatello. Cowabunga Dude!
We had kitties with some of those names also.
