Rain, Rain, Go Away…

I know that we need rain, but I sure wish that it could hold out just for a couple more days. I hurried with some things that I needed to get done this morning and then I went outside to start painting. You know when everyone tells you that it’s going to rain but you think – ‘If it’s only a 70% chance of rain… maybe it won’t’. Well it did. I was painting with white on some trim and it started to drizzle. I painted with white because it’s latex and would dry faster. I did get the trim done on the one side of the shed but then had to put the paint away for the day. It was starting to drizzle really hard.  Where I was painting was covered by the roof, but I even thought that I might have looked kinda dumb out there painting.  I decided that I’m not that good around the house if I think that I should be painting. And to be honest I think I might be a little obsessed with the whole painting thing. I’ve only got just a small amount left on the outside of the buildings and I sure would hate to not get it done!
OK, so while I was watching the weather this afternoon and hoping that the sun would come out for longer than 5 minutes, I decided to make some soup for supper. Then I also made 3 pans of banana bars. Kind of an overkill huh? Well I had that many bananas that I needed to do something with, and Daryl is planning on bringing some with him to music practice tonight and William is bringing some with him tomorrow to school. So really I won’t have that many leftover. I’ll put that pan of banana bars beside the pan of coffee cake that’s on the counter now.  I had set out some butter to make something else, and I wasn’t sure what that something was. So I got out my huge binder of favorite recipes and started looking. But all the recipes that I wanted to make used cream or caramel topping. Now in my refrigerator there are some things that I always have on hand – butter, sour cream, ice cream toppings, and cream. Well not today. I didn’t have either the cream or caramel so I quit looking in my recipe file. So after I looked outside again and then gave up the idea of painting, I decided to have my next project in the kitchen to make some beef sticks. This was a new project for me and it really didn’t go too bad. They have to cure in the refrigerator tonight and then I have to bake them tomorrow. I was thinking that it was going to be gross to fill the casings, but it wasn’t. The part that didn’t look right was how thick they are. They look twice as big as they should be and I’m hoping that they’ll shrink when they’re baked. I guess I’ll see how well I did tomorrow .
